Using Color Correction to Match Two Clips

If you’ve used multiple cameras within a project or if the lighting varies between shots, the resulting clips can look noticeably different. You can use the Color Corrector and Color Corrector (Secondary) plug-ins to minimize the differences.


  1. Click in the timeline to place the cursor on the frame that contains the clip you want to match.

  2. Click the Copy Snapshot to Clipboard button Vegas Pro b copy Using Color Correction to Match Clips in the Video Preview window to copy the frame.

  3. Click the down arrow Vegas Pro b downarrow2 Using Color Correction to Match Clips next to the Split-Screen View button Vegas Pro b splitscreenpreview Using Color Correction to Match Clips and choose Clipboard from the menu. The frame you copied is displayed in the Video Preview window.

    If you want to change the portion of the frame that is displayed, click the down arrow Vegas Pro b downarrow2 Using Color Correction to Match Clips next to the Split-Screen View button Vegas Pro b splitscreenpreview Using Color Correction to Match Clips and choose Select Left Half, Select Right Half, or Select All  from the menu, or drag in the Video Preview window to create a selection.

  1. Select the event you want to color correct and click in the timeline to place the cursor on a frame that contains the same color content as the frame you copied in step 2.

  2. Click the Event FX button Vegas Pro b busfx Using Color Correction to Match Clips on the event you want to color correct, and add the Color Corrector and Color Corrector (Secondary) plug-ins.

  3. Adjust the plug-in settings as needed until the colors match.
